1. A 25 year old man who has been on holiday several weeks previously presents with joint and muscle pain, tiredness and a slight fever. The man also appears jaundiced. Examination reveals an enlarged liver.

 

2. A 43 year old lady who is on steroids for her GI symptoms has been feeling gradually more tired and itching profusely. She also mentions suffering from dryness in her eyes. On examination she is jaundiced with pain in the right upper quadrant of her abdomen but there are no palpable masses.

 

3. A 56 year old lady who presents to her GP with progressive weight loss and a lack of appetite for several months. She has also been experiencing pain in her abdomen and on examination her abdomen appears bloated.

 

4. A 14 year old boy who is admitted to A&E with severe pain in the upper abdomen and back. He has vomited several times before arriving at hospital and on examination he has a rigid abdomen with signs of bruising in the flanks.

 

5. A 38 year old man who complains of regularly being short of breath, wheezing and coughing up sputum. He also mentions his skin seems to be a darker colour than it is normally.
